 | | | Congratulations, Mrs. Delaroderie! | | | |
Shenandoah’s Angela Delaroderie chosen to attend the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy
Each summer, 600 third- through fifth-grade teachers from school districts across the country attend the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy. The Academy offers a five-day program, with camps in New Jersey, Texas and Louisiana, designed to provide third- through fifth-grade teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to motivate students to pursue careers in science and math.
“Today, in fields like medicine, computing and energy, the U.S. needs more brilliant young minds than ever before. Yet, as the need for brainpower grows, the number of our nation’s young people pursuing careers in these areas is decreasing. Fortunately, we believe this trend can be reversed, which is why we partnered with professional golfer Phil Mickelson and his wife Amy to launch the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy in 2005.” – ExxonMobil See More about the Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy

First Lady Visits Shenandoah
|
Louisiana's First Lady,
Supriya Jindal, visits Shenandoah - Awards Grant
Kindergarten classes at Shenandoah were
awarded grants through the Supriya Jindal Foundation to purchase classroom
materials.
To be competitive in the
national and global economy, the state of Louisiana must first be competitive in
the classroom. As U.S. demand for scientists
and engineers grows at a rapid pace, studies show that Louisiana students rank
low in basic science and math proficiency. To prepare our children for the
rewarding and high-paying jobs of the 21st century, we need to come together now
and commit to making a greater investment in education. -
